A collection of UIDs may be "exported" in four different ways:
•Printing (via Notepad)
•Creation of a text file
•Copied to the clipboard
•Export to an Excel CSV file
The nature of the UID collection export depends on where they are being viewed. The Shipment UID Browser (described below) may export the UIDs that are attached to a CLIN or shipment, while the UID Database Browser allows for a broader view.
The first three options generates text output as follows. The UIDs are printed in order, and may include more than one CLIN, depending on the export method.

Total UIDs: 4
There are two ways to dynamically view and print/export UIDs.
The UID Database Browser is a research tool that because it is readily available and does not require the user to open any shipments in the editor. It can access UID data without the need open any shipments in an editor. And while the Shipment UID Editor looks at that specific set of UIDs, the Browser can take a broader view.
The UID Database Browser is available on various main menus of Shipper, Labeling, and UID Expeditor, as well as some tool menus. You can set its filters to identify the shipment, then copy, print or export the UIDs. Setting the filters is easy if you know a UID in the shipment. Simply use the Find UID feature (also found on various menus), then look at its properties and request that MIL-Comply show you items that are similar by part number, CLIN and/or contract-order.
While editing or browsing items in the Shipment UID Editor, its [ Copy / Print / Export ] button will export the UIDs of the current CLIN according to the Action selected (see menu above). It's Excel CSV export option allows for export of a more expansive option.
The CSV Export option produces a file that can be easily imported into other applications. See this sample file.
It also provides more flexibility for selecting what is exported, with the UIDs for the current CLIN as the starting point, and expanding from there. If you need this kind expansive export, an alternative is to use the UID Data Browser, as described above. The Excel/CSV file is essentially a dump of the MIL-Comply UID table records currently displayed by the Browser. It is similar to the CSV Import Format used elsewhere by the software. |
