Ambiguous UII Part Numbers

ux_determineuid1partnum
UID Expeditor automatically determines the part number of a Construct 2 by finding a part numbers in the database that could match the UII.  Sometimes there may end up being more than one that would work.

Consider the UII "DX0000TRKWHLX001-08".   The likely P/N has been underscored.

In this example, there are two part numbers in the database that could match the data.   It is not clear whether the ‘X’ is end of the part number or the beginning of the serial number.  So, Expeditor presents both to the user to decide.   This is rare, but possible.

This dialog would also be seen when Construct 1 UIIs or UIDs are processed, because they lack a part number to allow for automatic selection.   For Construct 1 there will be a list of parts selected in the session.  If the subject item’s part number is not in the list the [Look in Parts Database] button would be used to locate the part number and noun in the database.  That scenario is discussed in Scanning Construct 1 UID Symbols.
