Support for DoD RFID is highly integrated into MIL-Comply, starting with Labeling, which collects and organizes RFID and UID data for WAWF submission as it prints labels. RFID data may be included in EDI Receiving Reports (DD250s) submitted by Shipper or Contract Manager, or independently of the DD250 as a RFID Pack Update, allowing shipping process flexibility and supporting use of third-party logistics (3PL) services.
The RFID Manager app provides several main functions:
•Preparation of RFID pack data for WAWF
▪Use of Pre-encoded RFID Tags
•Generation of the RFID Pack Report
•Submission of RFID Pack Update to WAWF
When RFID labels are produced by Labeling, the RFID data that is collected is ready to go to WAWF, without any need to do anything. Reviewing the RFID Pack Report will verify that, as will viewing the load in the RFID Container Browser. Sometimes minor cleanup is required, like getting rid of an extra RFID case label, or shifting containers between pallets. [ Browse ] and [ Tag View ] are RFID Browsers for that purpose.
RFID data may be included in EDI Receiving Reports or Combos transactions submitted to WAWF. But you can also choose to submit the data after those transactions are already present in WAWF, as long as they have been designated as "Pack Later". This is good option if your process is such that shipments are not finalized until after acceptance, or if your company prepares their Receiving Reports on the WAWF website. It is also good for companies that separate shipping from contract administration, or ones that use third-party logistics (3PL) providers for packaging and shipping.
The [ ASN ] button will bring up the ASN/Pack Update dialog to submit the RFID Pack Update to WAWF.
Including RFID in a Receiving Report / Combo
To include RFID data in a Receiving Report, simply mark the RFID Included option in Shipment Editor (in Shipper and Contract Manager). The Pack Later option allows you to follow up with a Pack Update.
Note that the [ RFID ] button in the Shipment Editor brings up the RFID Container Summary shown above, with the ability to view containers and manipulate RFID data, however the Pack Update can only be sent from RFID Manager.
