UID Expeditor's UID collection capabilities focus on scanning two-dimensional UID Data Matrix symbols. DOD-compliant UID symbols utilize a machine-readable interface (MRI) format that generally allows for automated recognition of the item's part number (P/N). Identification of item part numbers supports automatic determination of their nomenclature/noun as found in the MIL-Comply Parts Database.
UID Expeditor also supports data entry of Composite UIIs (Unique Item Identifiers), such as D1HLD9WIDGET-99000001. UIIs lack internal data separators and identifiers, but MIL-Comply is designed to automatically to determine the UII’s part number and serial number components, as well as their associated noun/nomenclature. This allows for building a complete UID record.
