The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) provides shipping instructions to contractors via its Vendor Shipment Module (VSM) web application. Its traditional role of arranging transportation for larger shipments (TL/LTL) has expanded to include providing shipping labels for small parcel services, such as Fed Ex and UPS. This allows the Government to save on shipping costs by negotiating its own contracts.

VSM integration allows MIL-Comply to communicate with VSM rather than having the contractor providing data to the VSM web application and then transcribing the TCN and shipping address onto shipping labels and into WAWF Receiving Reports and Invoices.

The integration of VSM into the WAWF process is described as part of the MIL-Comply VSM Automation approach.
