Shelf-life markings sometimes appear on Mil-Std-129 container labels in the following form:
ASSEMBLED DATE 10/13 INSP/TEST DATE 10/16 |
The requirement is explained in the Shelf-Life Codes reference article, which includes the following excerpt from Mil-Std-129R:
5.10.1 Shelf-life marking (see Figure 28). Shelf-life marking shall be shown as part of the item identification data on unit packs, intermediate containers, exterior containers, and unpacked items. Shelf-life marking can be specified in solicitations or contracts, purchase orders, purchase descriptions, specifications and material standards. All shelf-life marking shall be based on shelf-life codes (SLC) ...
Labeling allows the direct entry of shelf-life markings. The Shelf-Life Wizard simplifies it.
The example at right demonstrates how the shelf-life markings above were created.
1.Initial Date of 10/13 was entered
2.[ Assembled ] button was clicked, which set the End Date buttons accordingly
3.End Date of 10/16 was entered
4.[ Inspect / Test ] was clicked
