Shipping serially-managed Government-Furnished Property (GFP) is different from shipments of new acquisition items in two ways:
•Use of Reparable Receiving Report (RRR) instead of standard WAWF Receiving Report (RR)
•Transfer of custody in the IUID Registry
The use of the RRR is mandated for returning serviced items to the Government, because it indicates that receipt of the shipment will not increase item inventory levels, although the condition of the items may change. The required use of the RRR will apparent to anyone shipping UID-marked items when the shipment is rejected due to the presence of the UIIs in the IUID Registry. Shipments of non-UID items and shipments where the UIDs are not properly represented will not likely be rejected by WAWF, but the practice violates the DFARS and may ultimately require corrective action in the future.
UID items submitted on a RRR must be acknowledged by the IUID Registry to be in the contractor's custody. Lack of proper custody will cause rejection of the RRR.
Reparable Receiving Reports may be submitted on the WAWF web site, while custody acknowledgment may be done in the IUID Registry's web application. MIL-Comply's GFP Automation performs these actions without requiring web site access or special credentials.
MIL-Comply's GFP solution focuses on transactions required for the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of serially-managed items, usually UID-marked. While there are some extra steps involved at the front-end, shipping GFP with MIL-Comply is very similar to handling new acquisition UID items. The handling of Government-Furnished Material (GFM) and Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) used in manufacturing and maintenance fall outside of the MIL-Comply design capabilities.
