Equipment and supplies used by the military face some extreme challenges that would simply destroy the best commercial packaging, which rarely anticipates products being dropped out of planes or sitting outside in the heat, cold and rain.  To meet those challenges, DoD has codified a set packaging instructions that are codified in Mil-Std-2073.

Contractors receive packaging instructions as codes that are stated in a number of different ways.   The first task for a mil-spec packager is to determine the packaging method or material described by each code.   MIL-Comply Pack-2073 software simplifies that task.
