QAR: Quality Assurance Representative

Contract Quality Assurance (CQA) is performed by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) for contracts under its supervision.   The Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) is responsible for Contract Quality Assurance (CQA) on behalf of the DCMA.   Shipments on contracts requiring Source Inspection may not be shipped without sign-off in WAWF by the QAR indicating that the Government has determined through surveillance, inspections and/or testing that supplies to be shipped have met contract requirements.

CQA may also occur at the destination, or an intermediate location.   CQA should not be confused with Acceptance, the point at which ownership of a shipment transfers to the Government.   CQA can occur at one point, acceptance at another.
